Handmade Carbon Steel Cookware
Freestone Forge cookware is where art and function meld. Our beautifully handmade pans are sturdy workhorses that look like pieces of art when hanging on the rack. Pans are handmade by a single artisan with all hand tools. Each pan and handle are cut by hand and shaped using a hammer and anvil.
Each skillet is handmade so no two are identical. You will have an original piece of art. The size, slope of the pan sides, handles, handle angles, and forging marks will be different in each pan.
Why a carbon steel pan? Carbon-steel pans have a place in every kitchen.
They are workhorses. They are more durable than nonstick, aluminum or even some stainless-steel pans.
They heat up faster than cast-iron and heat evenly. They create a wonderful sear.
They are often lighter weight than a similar sized cast-iron pan.
When fully seasoned, they acquire nonstick properties and lack the chemical coatings of a nonstick pan.
Pans can be used on a variety of cooking surfaces such as electric, gas, convection, and grill. They can go right from the stove top to oven.
Because the Freestone Forge handle is robust and is attached, not integrated, it takes longer to heat up than a cast iron pan’s handle. This lets you cook longer without needing to reach for a mitt.
Pans come lightly pre-seasoned allowing them to be used upon arrival.
Care for this pan as you would a cast-iron skillet. Keep seasoned. Hand wash and dry immediately.
